Lo Bothsoworth once said that it is always a fashion show, but is it?
What's the first thing you do in the morning? Run to the toilet? Check twitter? Or dash to the wardrobe to plow through your mountain of must-have fashion items?
Its often thought that us girls spend hours deciding what to wear, how to wear it and when to wear it, but honestly, I'm not sure that is the case. I mean, we're no Taylor Momsen who still believes the "underwear and outerwear" trend is okay, or that we claim to "see what clothes on the floor look clean" but do we really spend long deciding?
Its all about impressions. Sitting around the house all day and we're reluctant to even get out of our baggy t-shirts, however it would appear that depending on who we're meeting, we alter how we think we should dress. Now clearly, that sounds fairly obvious. Going to a meeting? Wear smart clothes. Shopping? Casual. Clubbing? Wearing something more than underwear is usually a start. Yet, it could also be said that we would purposely choose outfits to suit the person we are meeting. Often I have found myself picking something from my wardrobe that I don't exactly like, but for some reason I assume the person I'm meeting will, and therefore put it on anyway. Or have you heard the tales of the girls (and guys) who are desperately trying to land a job at hollister, so waltz around the shop head-to-toe in cali inspired clones. Maybe even a job in some hipster store wearing nothing but Cross print clothes that it looks like you're either in a religious cult or just didn't look in the mirror. What I'm really trying to say is: is it always a fashion show, really? Do we actually spend as much time choosing and deciding as we'd like to think, or are we more inclined to dress for others, rather than ourselves.
