When in Rome..

Last year I travelled to Rome with my grandmother since it was a present for her 70th birthday! It is somewhere that she has always wanted to visit and truthfully, she never thought she would! So that's where I came into it.. I managed to plan the whole thing with my parents and somehow I was able to keep it a secret for months! However it was worth keeping to see her reaction on her special day!

Anyway.. The time I spent there was amazing (four days is never enough time) and if you ever get the chance to go, don't let it pass!

On the night we arrived there was rain, wind and even thunder and lightening! It more or less felt as though I hadn't left Britain, however the heat was a pleasant reminder that I was hundreds of miles away. Strangely enough, the storm was predicted to be the worst Rome has seen in over a century and they had given it the name of "Cleopatra", however it died down and didn't quite live up to expectations.

I could write a book about all the things I did, the places I visited and the wonders that I saw, but luckily for you I'm not going to, so here are a few snaps instead!

The last picture is of a small sweet I was given in a church right next to the Trevi Fountain. The priest took both mine and my grandmothers hand and told us we were "roses" , he also said that he knew we were grandmother and daughter, and that we had a special bond. Out of all of my memories of the city, that will be the one that will stay with me for a long time (soppy I know...pass me a tissue!)
